Some Light...

I think it's funny how the "light" of the world does not shine. As we
drove to Florence today, we joked about how all the strip clubs and
"toy" stores were all lit up bright. Sadly, we did admit that we used
them as landmarks to let us know that we were on the correct road to
school. We passed a church on the way back. Yep, you guessed it, it was
dark. To be honest, I do not remember seeing that church, or any
church, on the way to school {especially none lit up}. How sad is it
that what lights our streets is sexual immorality. Its no wonder that
we are in an age that thrives off of orgasmic experiences. That's
what's screaming at us{on the street, in the media}...SEX. There are
other sins that are prevalent, but there's something about sex. It
traps you. Now non-believers would take this as an opportunity to hate
on God. "What kind of God creates you with this intense desire then
punishes you when you give in?" Awwww tisk tisk tisk you have only one
side of the story. God created sex for us...not us for sex. Now before
you start let me finish...He created sex for the us that are married.
Its intensity was meant for those brought together as one....not those
wishing to be brought together...for one night. God is smart, He knows
that sex is wonderful....hence why it is a gift. But I could not expect
anyone to be aware of that you know being that our churches are so hard
to find. God desired the church{not the building but the entity} to be
"the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill {that} cannot be
hidden" (Matthew 5:14). I have a question for you....if the world is
dark...and so is the church...what is the distinguishing factor that
radiates truth? In this context, truth is synonymous with light. If
there is no light...then there is no truth. Aw but wait those darn
strip clubs have light...so they must have truth. Right? WRONG! It just
sucks that those riding from Florence to Coker at night won't know
that. I know you might be thinking she said a lot about nothing....lol.
My point if you missed it b/c you just skimmed or jumped to the end is
this: the church is supposed to be the light of this world...the
salt...the truth...how is this apparent when in the wee hours of the
night {the time in which most are most susceptible to the "darkness" of
the world} the church is dark but "SEX" is lit bright...beckoning to
the lost...the lonely...that they are the truth. We were warned to be
weary of false prophets....but how can we know otherwise when the truth
is too busy trying to save a little money on their light bill.
